Teaching Philosophy
In my teaching I use a student-centered approach. I ensure that my learning objectives, assessments and activities are aligned and employ a visible pedagogy (ex. alerting students to the strategies I use while teaching, workshopping assessment expectations, and inviting students to co-develop course material). In the classroom and online, I lead students in problem-based learning and encourage critical inquiry. Paradigm shifts often occur when teaching and learning, as we realize in incorporating new ways of knowing into our existing foundations that we need to build over again. I encourage moments where myself and my students are caught with our constructs down and therefore begin to ask new questions (ex. debates on topics, theory on trial showcases, case studies, scenario based activities, and forms of service learning).
